COTW: Pink Kisses

It's Friday ladies, which means bottoms up! This week I needed to pick up some lemon and lime juice to make some homemade Sweet and Sour mix and saw there was a sale on pink grapefruit juice. Couldn't pass it up so I grabbed a bottle to add to my bar juice collection. With February (and V-Day) right around the corner I decided it was time to up with a sweet, pink martini for the occassion.

Pink KIsses

1.5 oz Blue Ice Vodka (any vodka will do I just prefer potato vodka)

1 oz homemade Sweet and Sour Mix (recipe follows)

1 oz homemade Simple Syrup (recipe follows)

1 cup Ice

Pink Grapefruit juice

Strawberry for garnish (optional)

Combine the Vodka, S&S Mix, and Simple Syrup in a shaker with the Ice. Shake until combined. Pour into martini glass. Top off with Pink Grapefruit juice. Slice Strawberry up the middle from the bottom to the top, leaving a bit at the top to keep it together. Place on rim of glass.

Ta da! Finished. If you prefer your martini's to be a bit sweeter then add a bit more Syrup. If you prefer them a bit more tart then add more S&S Mix. Now onto the homemade recipes.

Homemade Sweet And Sour Mix

1 cup Lemon Juice

1 cup Lime Juice

2 cups Sugar

2 cups Water

Bring water to a boil and add sugar. Reduce heat and stir constantly until dissolved. Set aside and let cool to room temperature. Once cooled add Lemon and LIme juice and stir to combine. Store in an air tight jar (mason jar is preferred but a cleaned out spaghetti jar will work fine too). In a mason jar in the fridge my recipe has lasted about a month. If left in a squirt bottle or pitcher it is recommended that it be used within a week.

Homemade Simple Syrup

1 part Water

1 part Granulated Sugar

Bring water to a boil and add sugar. Reduce heat and stir constantly until dissolved. Set aside and let cool completely, stirring occasionally. The liquid will thicken as it cools. Store in an air tight jar.

There you have it ladies, a simple cocktail for the perfect Girls Night In and two bar staple recipes. Put on C'est Si Bon by Eartha Kitt and enjoy a wonderful start to the weekend. I will talk to you again on Monday. Until then amigas, adios!
